Nick Husbands – Coach/Director
(Canada Based)
Nick lives
in Kingsville after moving from the UK in 2010.
He has over 30 years of soccer playing experience at a district
level in England, after which he then coached local boys and girls
soccer teams, specializing in defence and goalkeeping.
He has
worked on soccer camps with children ranging from ages 4 – 17 years.
His
qualifications include:-
UK FA Level
1 Soccer Coaching
UKFA Level
1 Goalkeeping
In addition
to the above he also gained a certification in coaching Disabled Soccer
Players.
Nick is
responsible for the business development, promotion and strategic
planning for UK Soccer.
He currently leads our CDT (Cross Discipline Training) Product
- providing soccer training sessions as an alternative training
for a local ice hockey team.
Nick feels
that taking part in sport is an important part of life for kids and
coaching soccer helps them to learn the significance of self esteem,
teamwork and co-ordination.
His
favourite English soccer team has always been Liverpool FC.
David
Methven – Director of Coaching/Coach
(UK
Based)
David's
impressive soccer qualifications are:-
Level 1, 2 & 3 UK F.A
Level 1 Psychology for Soccer
Street Soccer
Coaching Disabled Players
He is an energetic coach who has also gained qualifications in Rugby,
Athletics, Cricket & Dodgeball.
From playing soccer at an early age he played and captained for both his
college and university teams in England.
He then progressed with a short career at semi professional level
in the UK before a professional season in the USA for Kansas City
Wizards.
In the UK, David has worked with several professional soccer teams,
including Fulham FC and Southampton FC. He has also coached soccer
throughout the USA at an elite level.
He delivers 1st class coaching sessions and is our UK based arm of UK
Soccer, responsible for the recruitment and training of UK coaches for
our use in Canada. He regularly travels to Canada from the UK to
deliver specialist clinics and Camps.
David enjoys many sports including basketball, hockey, badminton,
cricket and fishing.
His favourite UK team is Glasgow Rangers (oh well!)
Luke Husbands - Coach (Canada Based)
Luke studied Sports Leadership at Testwood Sports College in England, obtaining a Level 1 qualification. This is in addition to attaining a merit grade in BTECH Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Exercise & Fitness).
He also attended a Referee's course in the UK. Currently attending Kingsville District High School, he has played soccer since he was 3 years old.
He has helped coach U13 Kingsville Travel Team and is presently coaching St John de Brebeuf School Soccer team as part of his High School community hours.
Soccer teams played for since arriving in Canada are:- Cottam (House), Kingsville (Travel), Kingsville District High School and Windsor Pro Wolves.
Luke likes to keep active and enjoys other sports including, basketball, badminton, tennis and has recently learnt to skate in order to play hockey.
Luke's favorite English team is from where was born - Southampton FC, to whom he remains a faithful fan.
